As a community bank, we understand the importance of building strong communities in our area.  We are proud to donate to many charitable organizations and community efforts.  Our employees take time to be a part of their local communities as well.  They participate on boards, educational programs, youth athletics, civic groups and economic development groups.


Civista Bank Employees Volunteer in Focused on our Community Day

Employees across Civista Bank joined together in teams September 23rd to volunteer at various organizations throughout the communities Bank serves as part of the bank's Focused on our Community Day.  The bank's volunteer day was created last year to give employees the opportunity to volunteer together helping various organizations within their communities.  "Community involvement and employee teamwork are both important aspects of who we are as a bank.  The employee volunteer day helps us celebrate those values," said James O. Miller, Civista Bank CEO.

There were many volunteer opportunities to choose from including working with:

Akron/Cleveland Area:

  • Akron Access Shelter
  • Cleveland Food Bank

Dayton Area:

  • Dayton Habitat For Humanity Restore

Dublin Area:

  • City of Dublin Chamber of Commerce

Norwalk Area:

  • Abigail Pregnancy Center
  • Huron County Humane Society

New Washington/Shelby Area:

  • Buckeye Central Schools
  • Shelby Helpline

Urbana Area:

  • Caring Kitchen
  • City of Urbana Parks and Recreation
  • Second Harvest Food Bank

Willard Area:

  • Hillside Acres
  • Willard Area Food Bank
  • Willows at Willard Nursing Home

Over 135 employees volunteered their time at approximately 20 organizations, over 430 hours and $14,500 in company resources.  In addition to volunteer day, each branch hosted a food drive for employees and customers to donate non-perishable foods to local food banks.  Organizations the bank collected food for locally included:

Care and Share of Erie County, Norwalk area Food Bank, Victory Kitchen of Sandusky, Huron Helping Hands Food Pantry, Grace's Table of Castalia, Akron Canton Food Bank, The FISH Food Pantry of Huber Heights, Helping Hands Food Pantry of Miamisburg, Dublin Food Pantry, Plain City Food Pantry, St. John's Food Pantry of New Washington, Shelby Helpline Ministries, Shelby First Lutheran Food Bank, Caring Kitchen of Urbana, Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign & Logan Counties, and the Willard Area Food Bank.

Over 1,500 lbs. of food was donated bank-wide.

Financial Education

We believe in the importance of educating students with valuable financial tools for their future.  We partner with various financial educational programs including, Jr. Achievement, to provide area schools educational materials and tools to help them succeed beyond graduation.  Our employees volunteer their time to visit with classes and share additional educational information for the students.
